Pocket Gardens

Picture this, clean-lined teakwood chairs, practical potted plants and a splendid skyline view. This casual outdoor area is the balcony cum pocket garden.  City life can still be relaxing.  Even the tiniest of urban apartments has a small balcony, a dilapidated rooftop or narrow alleys that can be transformed into a pocket garden.  With imagination, patience and a green thumb, these spaces can be converted into a pocket garden.  A pocket garden is any kind of small growing area that can be put up anywhere, even if there are only a few plants in it.  For example, a space that used to be a storage area or mini dumpsite in your yard or near your laundry area can be made into a charming pocket garden.  You can fill cracks in walls, pavement gaps, spaces between garden stairs risers, stepping stones with plants and any of these in essence is planting a pocket garden.

The pocket garden provides an excellent escape from the rigors of urban living to commune with nature, albeit in a small, limited outdoor setting.  So kick back, relax, catch the breeze and take in the view and bring pockets of paradise to your doorstep.
